Experiences...
I have an online journal so I thought I'd share some of the craziness that went on this past week... I don't have pics to post yet but I wanted this week to be part of our blog-life history....for those of you that want to read it all.. enjoy :)
Dear Journal,
Where do I even start?! I've had the most amazing and the worst experiences over the past week and a half! How can I go from so happy to so miserable you ask?! Well it's a little thing called pregnancy. haha. So.. last week was amazing! On Thursday Danny and I took a flight and went to the Bahamas for a much needed get away. We had a great time! There were some minor annoyances, like spring breakers and our room not being ready until 6pm! But all in all we got to snorkel some awesome reefs everyday. Here's how it went:
Thursday 3/17: Danny's sweet friend Andrew drove us to the airport at 7am, found out that Danny's name said R Dan Wilcoxson instead of Robert Daniel on his airplane ticket and since it didn't match his passport it took about 30 min for them to change it in the system meanwhile I was getting more and more nervous that we were going to miss our flight as we hadn't even gotten through security yet! Luckily we were at Regan airport, which is awesome, so we made it. After a quick 2 hr flight to Miami, me prepared with zofran and preggie pops and a whole BAG of food + barf bag just in case, we then boarded a small prop plane that held like 50 people and headed off to Grand Bahama! They totally robbed us with a Taxi price of $25.. insane! haha oh well. We had a great time lounging around on the beach and eating to our hearts content. It was just so nice to un-wind. I'm grateful for a calm sweet husband. He really helped cool me down when after waiting for 2 hrs they still didn't have our room ready I was about to burst.. but luckily I married the right person that is the calm to my storm :)
Friday 3/18: We decided to take it easy and explore the beach on the resort. We ended up taking a walk half a mile down the beach and found a sweet coal reef! It was awesome snorkeling, I even spotted one of the largest star fishes I have ever seen. Also it was perfect because the water was only chest deep! So when I was feeling sick I could just stand up and take a breather. Seriously perfect pregnant girl snorkeling haha .. later that night we had dinner and relaxed by finishing the night at the lounge watching the BYU game and having some icey drinks :)
Saturday 3/19: Our day to explore! We rented a car around 11am and were off! We went to the "national park" and were charged a huge $5 to explore some underground caves. They were pretty cool to see. They had deep water in all of them with some interesting fish. Kinda sketchy on how they built the boardwalks down in the cave but we had fun exploring on our own and taking a walk through the scenic trail. Then we went to the other side of the national park which was the beach side!! Danny said it was the best national park he had ever been too since we got to go play at a beach and it was actually fun :) haha.. I guess all the pine tree parks in the US just don't cut it for him. Anyway it was the most BEAUTIFUL beach I've ever seen in my whole life. I could have stayed there for days! The beach was so wide and had current ripples it was amazing. Of course we brought the snorkel gear and headed out. I had a minor panic attack for some reason so my snorkeling was short lived but we did get to see some interesting fish. Then we decided to take a walk down the beach and Danny found a cool sand bar that he was literally able to walk a quarter of a mile out to sea and was only knee deep!! I can't believe how awesome the Bahama beaches are. Seriously I was amazed. Then on our walk back we saw some white crabs that once Danny tried to grab he put his pinchers up and then ran off.. haha. Then I looked over to see a star shape in the sand and found a dying star fish. I tried to revive him but upon seeing that it wasn't going to work we decided he was mine to bring home. So we cooked him on our balcony from our hotel room and now he's in our house :) Sorry Mr StarFish.. but you're pretty cool!! After some fun in the sun we drove into "town" to see the port market. It was very tiny to say the least and didn't really offer much as far as souvenirs more than any Mexican hut so I settled on some postcards for the family and a frame that says "Bahamas" for us. Then we headed back to the resort happy to see that the last of the Spring Breaker crews were headed home! Yippiee!! We enjoyed a nice dinner and spent some time relaxing the night away on the beach.
Sunday 3/20: Since we had the rental car until 11am we decided to take advantage and go on a "Sunday drive" so we drove as far west as time permitted and got to really see Bahaman life. Their homes are much like the cement ones you would see in Mexico or Panama. It was nice to see everyone dressed in their sunday best going to church. Danny even found a back road that drove us right out onto the beach!! We found our new vacation home spot! haha.. maybe someday. It was a fun drive and we were worried we were going to be charged for bringing the car back late because getting gas took forever and the gave Danny Bahama money for change. Haha. Luckily the Hotel exchanged it for us later. So we came back and decided to explore a little more and went snorkeling off of the coral reef right in front of our resort's beach. Since there weren't a ton of people it was a little more accessible. While we were snorkeling the craziest thing happened!! So I was about to start snorkeling when I looked down to see all these yellow and black striped fish around us.. odd.. So when I looked in the water we were in a cloud of a ton of them!! They had surrounded us and weren't afraid to get super close... it really freaked me out but Danny of course thought it was pretty cool! Well this little cloud of fish followed us around the entire reef! I think they were looking for food as one nibbled on Danny’s finger when he stuck it out.. crazy friendly fish really freaked me out! Haha. Anyway we saw a few other reef areas and even got to see a cute little puffer fish! It was really fun to just spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. We even stayed out late that night and watched the tide come in and the moon was brilliant and amazing. I love my husband and am so glad that we’ve been married for 4 great years! We’ve had our trials but have really grown closer despite difficulty at times.
Monday 3/21: Going home… we ate a quick breakfast then I went back to the hotel and puked my guts out! I guess the baby was done with behaving for the vacation. Then Danny was a stud and helped pack us both up as I slowly got some things together. We hung out at the beach for one last hour, took a cab to the airport and headed home. It was a VERY bumpy ride on the airplane and I was eating preggie pops and any cracker I could just to keep my mind off of throwing up. Luckily I made it through the traveling just fine and Sarah was a sweetheart and picked us up at the airport. It was a wonderful trip!
TUESDAY 3/22: Today I went back to work… blah… after days in the sun who wants to work!? Anyway it was a short day because I took off at 1:30 and Danny & I headed over to our first official OB appointment. Dr Shaw was amazingly sweet and very informative. I’m really going to like this clinic. She was careful to go through every little question and detail with us and I really appreciated it. Then she said since I was so far along if we could wait then she would do an ultrasound! So we waited about 30 min and got to do an ultrasound.

This was the most amazing experience of my life!
I’ve already had 3 ultrasounds done but because it was just a dot and I couldn’t see much this time was so different. There our baby was… little arms, legs, a steady quick heartbeat and we even saw tiny fingers!! Since we were her last appointment for the day Dr Shaw said let’s just watch the baby for a little bit so she found a good spot and held extra still and we got to see this tiny little person jumping around & moving it’s arms all over the place. AMAZING! She let us sit and watch it for a good 10 min in one spot.. then she took some measurements, got some pics of the hands & feet, it was incredible! I feel like words can’t describe the moment. Danny and I were beaming and I of course couldn’t stop the tears of excitement, joy, and happiness I felt in that moment. It’s been 3 LONG years.. many trials, two miscarriages, and a lot of sadness for this most amazing opportunity to be parents. It almost feels surreal…like we can’t possibly be getting the exact blessing we’ve been praying for years to come. But our little one is growing strong, making me sick, and has taken over and I can’t wait to meet the little guy or girl that will be a new part of our home + family. That appointment will not be a day I will ever forget!
We ended the fun with dinner out at a little YUMMY Mexican restaurant and headed home.
Wednesday 3/23: Research Day! Danny presented the poster he had made from his past summer research project. I went to be the proud wife and took some pics J I think he did a stellar job on his poster and he just looked so hot! The rest of the day was pretty normal.. I was able to get the majority of the cupcakes baked so hopefully I can make progress little by little.
Thursday 3/24: Worst Sick Day EVER!! Today wins as the most brutal day in my entire pregnancy.. I began the morning with throwing up while I was blow drying my hair, then I went to work and about an hour later threw up again which was horrible as I am a very violent puker.. it is super loud and I’m sure echoed through the halls.. gross!! Luckily no one came into the bathroom. Anyway then I came back to my desk stared at the wall for a while, tried to pull myself together and ate a few pieces of cheese.. well that didn’t work, back to the bathroom I went puking again!! Then later that day Danny & I went to lunch, he was sweet enough to let me sit at a table while he grabbed me a salad and some baked chips. I managed to keep the little bit of salad I could stomach down and got some work done. Then we came home and Danny had to study for a big test coming up and so I decided to take a little nap on the couch next to him well 15 min into my nap I was rudely woken up by the WORST cramp in my calf. It immediately brought me to tears and took a good few min to get it to stop thanks to Danny’s help. HORRIBLE!! Well then that made me sick and I quickly limped to the bathroom to throw up anything I had left in my stomach… seriously!? Don’t I get a break!? Then I was crazy hungry and had to eat anything quick so I managed to eat some multigrain chips (my current staple right now) and about an hour later threw those up too.. geeze baby don’t you want anything to eat?! Needless to say I gladly went to bed early so I could get that day over with. Kinda funny that during all that I kept thinking of the bouncing baby in the ultrasound and just praying that even with all this that my baby would be healthy.
Friday 3/25 .... Friday!! FINALLY!! Wahoo!! What a crazy chain of events over a week! Bahamas, Ultrasound, Sick & now it’s cake time! Tonight I worked on making all the little gumpaste flowers for Catherine’s cake. I think they turned out super adorable!! It was good to have something to do while Danny studied J

Saturday 3/26… Crunch time.. since I had been so sick over the entire week this was my day to get everything done.. I was up at 7:30am and off baking cakes, making mousse filling, frosting cakes, running to the store for more supplies, making more frosting and by the end of the day I was just exhausted!! Not to mention cleaning the kitchen twice to keep all the ingredients separate. It was a full 7am-11pm day!
Sunday 3/27 Catherine’s Surprise party… I got up early to finish Icing the pink cakes and making sure all the details were ready to go. I made little gumpaste flowers for the cupcakes and barely made it to church in time for Sacrament! We had to do the late walk of shame up to the choir seats since our chapel was so full but I didn’t mind. There were some great speakers. Then halfway through Sunday school I started feeling sick.. so I took a little walk around the church and decided that I needed to go home a bit early. So we left after Sunday School.. ate some lunch, took a 5 min breather and was back to work, I made some more frosting for the cupcakes, frosted them and got them all ready as quickly as I could, packed up the car and headed over. While at the party I put the cake together and it turned out super cute. I think Sheldon did a great job with the decorations and party food and all in all his wife Catherine seemed surprised yet happy J I loved chatting with ward friends and really feel like I’ve finally started to mesh with my ward and the DC area. My poor hubby had to go home early to study for his big test.
Monday 3/28 Today.. just started my day, Danny’s in taking a big test right now and I’m hoping he rocks it! Hopefully this week will slow down a bit so I can get a handle on cleaning my house!
Ahhh I love my interesting life :)

Spiritual Message of the Month
![]() |
| Howard W. Hunter, “‘Come unto Me’,” Ensign, Nov 1990, 17 |
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28–30.)
This invitation and promise is one of the most oft-quoted of all scripture and has been of untold comfort and reassurance to millions....
Elder Talmage added: “He invited them from drudgery to pleasant service; from the well-nigh unbearable burdens of ecclesiastical exactions and traditional formalism, to the liberty of truly spiritual worship; from slavery to freedom; but they would not.” (Jesus the Christ, p. 259.)
....Unfortunately, a refusal to accept his miracles and his glorious invitation is still seen today. This marvelous offer of assistance extended by the Son of God himself was not restricted to the Galileans of his day. This call to shoulder his easy yoke and accept his light burden is not limited to bygone generations. It was and is a universal appeal to all people, to all cities and nations, to every man, woman, and child everywhere.....
Why face life’s burdens alone, Christ asks, or why face them with temporal support that will quickly falter? To the heavy laden it is Christ’s yoke, it is the power and peace of standing side by side with a God that will provide the support, balance, and the strength to meet our challenges and endure our tasks here in the hardpan field of mortality.

Dinner with the med school Amigos
While we have been out here we've made some great friends!! The bonus is that since I work at the Medical School and have taught one of the classes I've also been around and gotten to know some of Danny's classmates. Randomly Danny's friend Shawn invited us over for a fun dinner! Since a couple of the wives couldn't make it and the rest of the guys were single.. I was the only girl to crash the party! So I naturally did what any wife would and tooka picture!! There are two pics cuz Danny closed his eyes in one but I felt like you could see everyone better in that one.. haha.. anyway we have had some great times with these guys and I'm glad we've gotten to know them all so well!

It's finally Baby Time!
I might need a pair of these shoes in the near future!! We're Pregnant!! After a LOT of prayers and difficulty finally it has happened.
Here's the scoop: I have been going to a fertility clinic but we took a "break" from the fertility thing in Dec/Jan. So to start my next cycle I called my fertility nurse and she had me take a pg blood test and I took an at home test both of which were negative on Jan 18th... So a week later I started taking progesterone for 7 days which usually induces a cycle for me within 1-2 days after my last pill..... but day 10 came around and nothing was happening!! I was really upset actually thinking something was super wrong with my body this time and so I broke down and called my nurse to tell her what was going on. Well she asked if I had taken a pg test.. I was like "No! That was the farthest thing from my mind!" So that night (Feb 9th) I took a test and it was POSITIVE!! I went in the next day and my bloodwork was also positive. So I had an ultrasound the next day and there it was.. my little dot (pictured below) So since then I've had two more ultrasounds, one each week, to make sure everything's progressing. Our last ultrasound on Feb 23rd we got to see a little heartbeat flicker!! I almost cried!! We are SO VERY excited!! Now I've "graduated" from the fertility clinic and I'm on the hunt for a good OB/GYN Dr here in DC. It's all been so sudden and exciting! I can't believe that we have been blessed. Right now I'm 8 weeks along and feeling VERY pregnant with nausea, emotional outbursts, super nose sense of smell, and excitement + happienss all day long haha!
Of course I've already started checking out nursery designs... I think if it's a boy a more contemporary look like this one would be fun.
But you all KNOW I'm dying for a little girl to dress up everyday.. and I am just in LOVE with this little girly nursery.. I would change the crib but I love the color scheme and branches on the wall :)

A day out... to the National Air + Space Museum
To stop thinking about my morning/all day sickness Danny and I took advantage of a few free hours and went to the National Air & Space Museum. This one is not located in downtown DC but is in Virginia. It was really fun to walk around and see the planes from the different time periods... it was also fun to have a day together :) Unfortunatly I forgot my camera so all pics are from my phone... I guess they didn't turn out too bad.
