Happy Halloween!!

Danny and I went to the Kerli Halloween Ball Concert. SHE WAS AMAZING!! I really love her style! Not many people know about her she is from Estonia and just has an amazing voice. Danny and I were in the costume contest before the concert... we lost to the beetle juice couple but it was super fun to get dressed up anyway...

So what do you think of this Butt Rocker and Groupie!?! hehe

Should I go back blonde? :)

We just found out today that Danny was accepted to George Washington Medical School in Washington DC!! I am soooo excited! He will find out about the U of U in April but I think GW would be a great opportunity and a super fun adventure! I haven't had time to call anyone yet so I thought it would be easier just to post this. YEA!!!

Bye Bye Garden... :(

So I can feel fall coming and I'm so sad that our first garden will soon be gone. Here are a couple of pics. :)

The Heart of our Nation

In front of the White House after we finally found it :)

Danny's cute Italian Granny Pauline and Papa Joe (Keep in mind Danny is only 5'9'' so they are really both under 5 feet tall!! So adorable!)

What an inspiring and emotional place! I LOVE DC! I have never been before and I decided to go out with Danny for his interview. So we flew out wed and got in that night. Then after a crazy taxi ride we made it to our hotel in Alexandria. Well the next day we decided to go sight seeing in DC. So we found a bus and took that to the metro and then took the metro to Arlington Cemetery. That was so fun! We got to see the Kennedy memorial with the eternal flame. Then we were off to go see the sites at "the mall." We wanted to see the white house but without a map we ended up walking to the Washington Monument and it we would have just turned around we would have seen the White House!! We ended up seeing it right before we got back on the metro. But after the Washington monument we walked over to the Lincoln Memorial. That was my FAVORITE part of the whole trip. What an inspiration! I felt so inspired and could feel the spirit so strong just being in that memorial and reading his great words. I was astonished!! He truly is a great example to us all. Then we got to see the space and air museum at the mall along with the sculpture garden which was super fun! Thursday night we went back to the hotel a little early to help Danny study and prepare for his interview. Then he went into his interview the next morning and I stayed and played around in Alexandria. Then he came back to change and told me the news... His interview went GREAT!! He felt like it was a very positive experience and was super impressed with the school. So that night we went back into DC and ate dinner at a Spanish restaurant because they had all of Danny's favorite dishes from Spain. Then Saturday we rented a car and drove up to Delaware to visit Danny's cute little Italian grandparents. We ate raviolis with them which were AMAZING and just hung out. Then the next morning his grandparents snuck off to Mass at 7am and when we got up they had gotten back and his grandma cooked us a breakfast feast!! So around 10:30am Danny's grandpa wanted to take us into town for treats and to fill our tank and we found that our rental car had a flat tire! So we called AAA and two hours later were on our way to the airport. Overall it was a super fun trip and I would really love the chance to live in DC. It is seriously an inspiring and fun place to be. I felt so motivated seeing all the monuments, watching the runners go around that area, and just knowing that we were in the Heart of our Nation. I LOVE DC! Hopefully we can go back again soon.

So Danny and I just finished reading The Hot Zone about an Ebola virus outbreak and where did it happen?! RESTON Virginia!! So we had to go to the exact place where it was... it was a little spooky!

Danny had to see the Space and Air Smithsonian :) So cute..

The DC Temple just popped up out of no where when we were driving down the freeway!
We found our long lost twins in the sculpture garden :)

At the horticulture Smithsonian this plant had REAL SPIKES On it's leaves... so cool!

My favorite place with my favorite person :) xoxox

Island Park

So a few weeks ago we went to Island Park with Danny's whole family for the weekend. It was a super fun weekend. We drove up with Danny's parents and went and picked raspberries at my Grandma Johnson's house and then we were off to our fun Cabin in Island Park! That night we ate some yummy dinner at the lodge. The next day we went went rafting down a natural spring that was FREEZING COLD and so shallow that we kept getting stuck it was fun. Then the drama started my 4 year old nephew lost one of his "Spiderman" water shoes in the lake. He was freaking out as if he had lost his arm!! So we really were watching for it and he was super upset so just to see if it would float we threw in his other one and that one started to sink so I had to fish it out with the oar! Then about five min later Laura started screaming THERE IT IS!! and seriously there it was!! So Danny jumped into the freezing cold water and got it just in time and saved the day! Joe now had both of his Spiderman shoes and I've never seen him happier. It was cute. Then later that day we went to see Old Faithful and some of the geysers and hot pots. Also the next day we went back into yellowstone to see some of the other hot pots that we had missed. It was a nice relaxing weekend together.
Joe pushing the boat in the freezing water just before he lost his shoe!

Danny's favorite poster in Yellowstone :)

Happy Birthday Mary Jo

Happy Birthday Mary Jo!! Thanks for being such a fun mother-in-law. Danny and I celebrated our year and a half anniversary on your birthday and it has been such a great year and a half being part of your family. I love you so much and I hope you had a wonderful birthday! You deserve the best! xoxoxo
(This pic was taken with my phone so it's not the best quality.. and I also bought, baked, and iced her cake in the hour I had in between work and school so it's not the best but it's the thought that counts right!! I'm so blessed to have such a great mother in law!)

Monet to Picasso from the Cleveland Museum of Art

Last night we were able to attend the Monet to Picasso exhibit at the University of Utah Fine Arts Museum. It was so beautiful and fun to go. We got a discount on tickets through my work so we decided to go. My favorite was the Picasso during his "blue" era right after his friend died. To not put nudity on my blog I won't post the picture that was my favorite but I really admire his symbolism and how his work changed depending on his own emotional era. Danny's favorite artist is Dali who is from Spain. His work is very abstract and the one that we saw I posted below. All in all it was a fun and culturally enriching experience.
