Beautiful Atonement
18 ...For O how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that is the founder of peace, yea, even the Lord, who has redeemed his people; yea, him who has granted salvation unto his people;
19 For were it not for the redemption which he hath made for his people, which was prepared from the foundation of the world, I say unto you, were it not for this, all mankind must have perished.
20 But behold, the bands of death shall be broken, and the Son reigneth, and hath power over the dead; therefore, he bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead.
The Book of Mormon Mosiah 15:18-23

Med Wives Social
Being out here it's been an adventure to say the least and frankly I don't know what I would do without the "Med Wives Club." It's a group of girls that gets together to support eachother while our Hubby's are attending GW Medical School. It's fun to learn from those that are in the 3rd and 4th years and to obtain patience as we go along knowing when to expect the stress & dealing with missing our hubby's. These girls have been the light at the end of the tunnel. I was sad to see a couple of them leave as their husband's finished 4th year and are now in residencies in Texas & New York. I have really soaked up all their wisdom and hope to do the same for those new wives coming in.
Anyway... onto the party! I was the host this time and decided to create a "Festival Fall" theme. I've learned a few decorating skills from blog stalking a friend in my ward at: Love the Day Hope you can get inspired ...
Enjoy + Happy Fall!
I'll be doing foodie features over the next couple of days and post the recipes/instructions to all the goods :)

Danny's Famous Baked Beans
So yes, My hubby can cook.. and seriously I mean it.. he can really cook!! I think he also enjoys cooking when he isn't studying so when he's in "the mood" then I let him have full reign in the kitchen. One of my favorites are his Baked Beans. I dream about these little beans.. maybe because I'm obsessed with all things relating to Mexican Food but maybe simply because they are delicious!
Here's how they start off:

Here's how they start off:
Hot Hubby Cooking away! He's so cute I just wanna pinch his cheeks!!
Danny got the recipe from Alton Brown and here it is in case any of you are feeling adventurous!
Ingredients
- 1 pound dried Great Northern beans ** We use whatever beans are in the pantry, I like black beans **
- 1 pound bacon, chopped ** I have Danny use Turkey Bacon to keep it healthy**
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 jalapenos, chopped
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- Vegetable broth ** We have used Chicken Broth as well + it's just as good **
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
Directions
Heat oven to 250 degrees F.
Soak beans in a plastic container overnight in just enough cold water to submerge them completely.
Place a cast iron Dutch oven over medium heat and stir in the bacon, onion, and jalapenos until enough fat has rendered from the bacon to soften the onions, about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, dark brown sugar, and molasses.
Drain the beans and reserve the soaking liquid. Add the drained beans to the Dutch oven. Place the soaking liquid in a measuring cup and add enough vegetable broth to equal 4 cups of liquid. Add the liquid to the Dutch oven and bring to a boil over high heat. Add in cayenne, black pepper and salt. Give them a stir and cover with the lid. Place the Dutch oven in the oven for 6 to 8 hours, or until the beans are tender.

Be Prepared
Elder Dallin H. Oaks
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
What if the day of His coming were tomorrow? If we knew that we would meet the Lord tomorrow—through our premature death or through His unexpected coming—what would we do today? What confessions would we make? What practices would we discontinue? What accounts would we settle? What forgivenesses would we extend? What testimonies would we bear?
If we would do those things then, why not now? Why not seek peace while peace can be obtained? If our lamps of preparation are drawn down, let us start immediately to replenish them.
We need to make both temporal and spiritual preparation for the events prophesied at the time of the Second Coming. And the preparation most likely to be neglected is the one less visible and more difficult—the spiritual. A 72-hour kit of temporal supplies may prove valuable for earthly challenges, but, as the foolish virgins learned to their sorrow, a 24-hour kit of spiritual preparation is of greater and more enduring value.
...To borrow a metaphor from the familiar world of athletic competitions, we do not know when this game will end, and we do not know the final score, but we do know that when the game finally ends, our team wins.
