To start off the celebration of Danny's birthday weekend he got a surprise in the mail.. a LobsterGram from his parents... super cool!!
Oh yes he loves his seafood!
I love this guy! This past weekend we celebrated Danny's birthday. My friend Tiff & her hubby Shawn let us stay at their house (even though they were out of town!) and we had the best 4 day weekend in New York! Thanks guys xoxox
I just have to say that I love Danny so much and had such a fun time celebrating his b-day with him. He is such an amazing person to be married to and is truly my best friend. I love spending every min I can with him and this weekend was no different as we toured around NYC and just had fun hanging out together with no school worries or other stresses. Happy Birthday Honey! I love you xoxox
Driving though the Bronx they literally had Ice Falls running down the side of the hill.
Tolls.. tolls and more tolls.... New York here we come!
Per suggestion of Tiff we went to this AMAZING pizza spot and got a thin crust hot oil sausage pizza.. yep a heart attack in a box but it was SO worth it.. you just can't get pizza like East Coast pizza. So after we got to Tiff & Shawn's friday night we got a pizza and watched some movies.
Saturday it was time to take the train into New York for some sight seeing fun!
Danny on the train by my foot... yep I still have to keep it elevated.. :( hopefully it will heal up completely soon!
My first look at Grand Central station. It was really beautiful and fun to see. So for the rest of the day we took the Metro everywhere! Our first stop was the Papaya King.. since we are on the East Coast all the yummy food places we see on the Food Network channel are usually close by so we just have to try them out.. This place has the BEST hot dogs and drinks. I got a fresh strawberry juice which was delicious :)
After the Papaya king we took the metro to the Staten Island Ferry so we could see the Statue of Liberty! But how we got there was the funny part... we were on the metro and realized that they were ending 3 stops short of where we needed to be so we were talking about how we were going to transfer to another metro when this cute little girl asked us if she could follow us as we transferred lines because she needed to get to the shore as well... so as we all walked around I got to learn all about her life in the New York Bronx and her 7th grade adventures. She was a funny little girl.. so she ended up telling us about the Staten Island Ferry that was a FREE way to see the Statue of Liberty.. so having to travel on a med student's budget we decided to go with her to the ferry and we had a fun and free trip across and back! Super beautiful!
My new friend Sophia
I LOVE the architecture of New York.. So cool.
So... being from DC it hasn't been too cold (like mid 50s) so Danny didn't think he'd need a warm jacket so we ended up buying I Love NY sweatshirts because we were SO cold! And in the pic below I would like to clarify that no I havn't put on 50lbs... I just literally have on 6 layers! haha.. two of which were long sleeve shirts, another shirt on top, a sweater/jacket and then my NY hoody and I was still a little chilly.. the next day I learned my lesson and wore my wool jacket :)
Can you tell we're tourists?! haha Love Time Square!
Then as a special surprise we got to see David Blaine doing magic on the street. I kinda pushed my way through and so we got to be right up close to him. It was awesome ;)
Hi David Blaine!
That's the famous New Years Ball!
So after our trip down wall street and around NYC we called it a night and went back to Stamford, CT and watched movies all night :)
Happy BIRTHDAY!! So on Danny's actual birthday we went down to time square to check out Broadway tickets and couldn't find one that he wanted to go to so we decided to enjoy the sites and go do some foodie fun... to start.. some street roasted cashews! YUM!
Then we went to the best chocolate bar ever! Max Brenner has delicious chocolate surprises! This was the highlight for me.. but the best for Danny was yet to come :)

Isn't he so hansom!? xxoxoxo
We got the "sharing" platter which consisted of dark choc flakes, a vile of creamy chocolate, a chocolate/peanut egg roll, which & dark choc bark (AMAZING!), coconut macaroon, and a Carmel ice cream banana waffle split! But it didn't stop there... on the side we got a fondue set of strawberries, pineapple, bananas and marshmallows with our own little fire to roast the marshmallows on! We got dark chocolate for our fondue which really helped it not to get sugared out and it was delicious!!
Chocolate Heaven!!
Then... my parent's surprised Danny with a gift card to Ruth's Chris to have a supreme steak dinner for his birthday!

The restaurant, decor, and food were so great. It was a really great night to celebrate with Danny.. 27 is like heaven!! They even brought out a yummy carrot cake & chocolate mouse treat for him.
Then MORE celebration back at the condo!! Per Danny's request I made a dark chocolate mint ice cream cake. On the pics it looks like an ice cream sandwich but it really was a roll inside.. and it was pretty yummy for my first try at it!
Hope it was a great wish!!
Luckily we didn't start the condo on fire with all the candles! haha.. really though it was so fun to stay at Tiff & Shawns.. they are so great for letting us stay there!! Thanks guys!! xoxox
Monday was our last day in NYC so we drove into the city
and found another highly recommended spot called Katz Deli.. most amazing sandwiches in the world .. period...
Inside the deli.. and the guy in the blue is the owner! He talked to us for a bit. It was also SO crowded in there that we ended up sharing a table with another couple in their 60s that were super friendly from New Jersy.. they were telling us all about the best pizza and some other sandwiches we will have to order next time we got to Katz's pastrami & corn beef.. Danny and I got a philly cheese steak and brisket.
Happy & full hubby!
Before we went home we went through Chinatown, Little Italy, and saw the ground where the twin towers use to be. We also drove through SoHo where some guy cut Danny off and hit his car.. luckily there was no damage so we went on our way. SoHo had some fun architecture and crazy dressed ritzy people everywhere... fur coats are obviously super "in" right now :) Overall Monday was pretty fun and I even got some knock off tiffany jewlery on canal street.
On our way home we stopped and got a huge Ray's pizza and headed to Danny's Grandparent's house in Delaware and ate pizza with them and Danny's cuz Tiffy.. It was overall a great trip and a fun way to spend Danny's Birthday weekend. Love you honey!!

What a FUN trip!! Brett & I took a trip to NY when I was 7 months prego with Crue and had a great time there too! I bet it was FREEZING! I am 99% sure that we went to that same delicatessen (Katz) with the amazing Pastrami sandwiches (which Brett got) & I got the most amazing french toast that I have ever had there!! Happy Birthday Danny!! Tell your parents to send me a Ruths Chris Steakhouse gift certificate anytime -- ha! YUM YUM
