Elche, Spain

7/12/09
So yesterday we drove from Valencia to elche. But first we had to stop in the lladro world of porcelain. It was so beautiful to look at the hundreds of pieces! I felt like I was in a museum or art gallery I can’t believe how amazing their work is. After that we started on our drive.. It was the most amazing drive ever. We have gotten lost a few times due to the lack of street signs and our poor mapquest directions but we’ve managed. Anyway on one of our lost moments we actually got to drive all along the coast from Valencia to elche. While driving through one of the beach towns and stopped to get churros and chocolate. By far the most amazing thing EVERRR!! We also got some meatballs for Danny that were also yummy with some vinegar and salt fries… it was a good little pit stop. Then we found directions to one of the most beautiful beaches in Denia called Las Marines so of course we had to stop and lay out for an hour. The Mediterranean is warmer in some spots than others.. this beach it was pretty warm but not as warm as the one in Tarragona. But hey who can complain? We’re on vacation and it’s the Mediterranean sea! So after our stop at the beach we headed to Elche where we found our hotel and toured around the center for a while. We found a great deal on a suit for Danny at a shop he used to go to as a missionary and I had to get some adorable Spanish shoes.. It was pretty fun just to be downtown and hanging out together. Then today we went to church in Elche at one of the most beautiful churches. It is located in this park of palm trees that is pretty huge and cool. Danny and I met two fun young couples that he used to know. One of them just had a baby and the other is expecting their first. Danny found them on facebook before we came down so he got to chat when them a bit on that so it was really fun for all of them to get together after church. One of them was a newer convert when Danny was in the area and he thanked him for all his hard work as a missionary and said because of his help he was still active today. It was really touching to see that he and his wife were sealed and expecting their first child. I feel so blessed that we are in such an amazing church with the perfect plan of our Heavenly Father.
