After going to the Alhambra we hopped into the car and headed to Madrid. We got in to the temple around 9:30 pm which was perfect since they closed at 10:30 :) originally we were going to have to sleep in separate bedrooms that they have for women and men but they had one family room open up so we snatched it up and here we are with two sets of bunk beds, a kitchenette and bathroom! It's a fun little spot that is right next to the temple. I can even see the temple out our apartment window! So on monday we settled in for the night.. and managed to sleep together in a single bunk bed.. haha! Then on Tuesday we got up and drove to Toledo.. They have some fun castles and old architecture that I LOVed and we even ate a yummy lunch of paella.
Then we headed back to madrid to drop our fun little car off at the airport. After turning that in we jumped on the metro and made it back to change and go to the temple just in time to do some sealing. We were able to seal 5 couples and 15 children! It was a lot of fun. I've never seen a sealer book through so many names in an hour as this guy! I was impressed. Then today we went and did a session in spanish and we were the witness couple for the first time ever! It was a fun experience but i had to really pay close attention as everything was in spanish and they used some vocabulary that i didn't exactly know. It was a great experience though and we got to meet a few different missionary couples that were american and serving in the spain temple. One of them even took us on a tour of the temple after our session. He told us about the marble inside the temple was all from spain and the outside was from Michelangelo’s quarry in italy. The celestial room was Pres Hinkley's favorite of all the temples, President Monson said that this temple was the most area exquisite meaning that it had the most spanish culture within the decoration of the temple including the hand woven spanish carpet throughout which was AMAZING. Also there is the sign of solomon which is a woven never ending pattern throughout the celestial room, baptistery, and sealing rooms. We even went into the baptistery and there was so much detail that i was blown away at the beauty of their temple. They are truly blessed.
Then we headed out into the Madrid center and went shopping around and enjoyed the sites. I think that we are going to the Prado Museum tomorrow and then we are off to Palma tomorrow night around 7pm :)
Danny's super happy because he just got the best jamon sandwich from none other than the Museum of Ham!!
The typical old guy two finger hold. All the older guys walk around talking together with their hands behind their backs.
Typical Bread Cart that they have in all the markets
Olives, Olives and more Olives! Yum!
Danny making dinner for us in our little apartment next to the Temple :)
Onto the Prado Museum with only 2 hours to spare.. we love to pack it all in!
I got in trouble right after I took this pic for taking pics inside.. oops! It was a beautiful and fun art gallery/museum.
