Happy Memorial Weekend!! Danny and I flew to Florida for the memorial weekend to spend it with his Granny Dee & Steve! We had a great time. They let us stay in their rental home since the "snow birds" that were living there just went back to Arizona. It was a beautiful place to stay and we had a GREAT time with them!! Everyday they took us to a new restaurant and then we would hang out until late at night chatting it up and learning all about them. Danny has only had the chance to see his Grandma a handful of times so it was nice to spend some quality time there. Her hubby now, Steve isn't Danny's biological Grandpa however he is a super great guy!! He is very thoughtful and hilarious! Since Granny Dee had just fallen a broke some ribs a few days before we got there it was somewhat hard for her to get around. So Steve took us to the Memorial Day celebration in the Park. It was really neat as all the war Vets had on their uniforms and the service was nice. Steve even wore his air force basebal cap from his days in the service.

One of the restaurants we went to Granny Dee decided to order us FROG LEGS!! Wow... very tender and a little tasteless but I can say that I've tried them now! She was so funny cuz there were some hot peppers in a pickle jar on the table and she had to try one. So she popped open the lid and bit down on a whole one... then the burn set in. She was oooing and ouchinggg then she passed one to Steve to try and he did.. then his burn set in. Really they were making me laugh pretty hard!! She is such a spunky lady and I'm feel so blessed to have spent such a long and great weekend with them ( Thurs-Tues)

At night I mentioned that we would sit around and chat. Well we would either go to their home or they would come to the rental. On the nights we got to go to their home we got to have the pleasure of chatting with Randy. Her bird of who knows how many years. He is so funny!! He will say good night when you put the cover on his cage for the night, he knows when it's "happy hr" and will say " Happy Hour.... " He whistles and is just a smart little bird!!

Granny Dee & Randy

Me & Steve

Danny with his sweet little Granny Dee! She is so tiny. I think she said that she weighed only 85lbs!! Anyway we always keep her in our prayers and are happy to inform everyone that she is doing much better and is now in Physical Therapy and regaining her balance again. She had to start using a walker which she hated however I think it has helped.

A couple days while Granny Dee and Steve were taking a nap we went exploring and found the beach!! Since the town were were staying in (Micco, FL) is full of retired people there was NOONE on the beach over memorial weekend!! We thought it would be packed but it was just amazing to have the beach all to ourselves!! To get to the beach you have to cross over a little bridge and one either side are mansions many that are second homes to some celebrities. We also found the bird refuge and went hiking through the jungle a bit another day. It was truly a relaxing weekend.

No One for Miles!! :)

The rental home that we stayed in was right on the edge of this HUGE pond!! It was cool to hear all the different birds and we got to see a few fishing in the pond!

The whole house is full of windows & mirrors to enjoy the pond.

This is the sundeck where we would hang out with Granny Dee & Steve.

So the whole time Granny Dee was craving a lemmon merange pie. So every restaurant she would ask if they had it and they would never pull through for her. So one afternoon while they were taking a nap (their naps were abou 5 hrs hehe) I decided that I would make her a pie!! I've never made a pie before. So I went to the local grocery store and found a cookbook since we had NO access to the internet all weekend (good and bad) and I found a pretty decent version of a chocolate merenge and decided to alter it a bit to create a lemmon merenge. I also found some old mixing beaters in her home that worked on a prayer and forgot to take a pic of the finished product!! So after we enjoyed some pie I took a pic before we left. Dee loved it so much she at about 1/4 of the pie that night!

After saying Good bye we drove to the Orlando Airport. I wanted to get something from Disney for my co-workers so we headed into Disneyworld but with time Not on our side we decided to head back to the airport. I ended up finding some treats at the Disney store in the airport so all was well :)

Oh yea and we visited NASA! haha jk.. it was a NASA airport store... :)
