First things first.. My mom has always wanted to go to Maine and have fresh lobster there. So first stop in Maine... you guessed it Barnacle Billy's Lobster-house!! The restaurant was located right on the coast and so we got to sit over the water and enjoy the scenery. There were some other shops around so we stopped to get some freshwater taffy and check out the sea glass jewelry. I can't believe how different Maine coastline is from any other that I've seen. It's rocky, sandy and just plain beautiful!!
My cute parents..
One Happy Man!! My parent's got full lobsters while Danny and I decided to try the famous Lobster Rolls (chunks of lobster + fresh cooked roll = lobster roll)
So Happy... Until she saw the tags on the lobster... product of Canada!! HAHAA she was very upset that they weren't authentic MAINE lobsters however they were just as fresh and delicious!
The happy couple.. .xoxox
Mama & Me
Next stop was to find our cabin!! We stayed at the cabin behind my mom. It was an adorable place with two bedrooms. Across the little road were more cabins and then the inlet lake that is filled by the ocean. When we first got there the inlet was completely empty! My mom was super disappointed because she wanted a cabin on the ocean to see out over the water... so we decided to walk down there and cross it to the other side to the ocean. On our way back the tide started to rise... and well we had to pretty much speed walk back in the sand/mud as the water was rising and rising!! We all made it back about 20 min before the inlet lake was completely filled!! It ended up being about 5-15 ft deep in some places.
After the water rose we decided to take the canoes out and paddle around.
Yea we made my dad paddle most of the time.. Danny took over on the way back.
Since the tide had just come in there were crabs walking around all over the bottom! It was super clear water so we were able to just sit and watch them. Pretty cool
The scenery was just gorgeous!! We were surrounded by amazing homes in a serene perfect little place. So the next day... Danny and I had to go out again!!
This time we paddled across and crossed over the bank to the ocean side. It was kinda crazy because there was high tide and low tide. So we had to pull our boat up really high so it didn't get taken out when the tide went back up.
See the next post for the rest of our fun filled Maine Day!!
