Palmyra

On our way to Palmyra. SO when Danny wasn't driving he was sleepin :) So cute!!

Eerie Canal.. Isn't it weird how this was a MAJOR source of transportation of good. Then it was trains, now it's semi's & planes!

Our First find in Palmyra.. a BAIT DISPENSER!!! I've never seen one before. You know you're in the back hills when.... haha

Thought you might like to see what they offered.

A little teamwork to get all the bugs off the coche... what good guys

When we got in to our little house in Palmyra we had this cute welcome message on the fridge. Needless to say my dad crashed once we got there. haha...

Cute Hubby chillin. Such an adorable house! I wish I would have taken more pics!

The next day we were off to see the sites of Palmyra. First up.. the

This is what the first BOM's looked like.

Originals

Part of the printing press where they would hang the sheets of pages to dry.

I got to try my hand at folding a perfect set to be put in the book. The guy gave me approval but my edges were a little off!! People who worked in the printing press used to fold pages for hours and they had to put their initials on the page so if they messed up the manager would know who to blame. haha!

This was the bindery.

So someone in Palmyra was cleaning out their garage and found an old Original copy of the Book of Mormon!! They were kind enough to just donate it to the printing press. Pretty Cool!!

I believe, love and cherish this promise!

Alvin's grave. They have re-done it because the original in white was sinking. Pretty cool gravesite.

Next we drove to the sacred grove area which included Joseph Smith's home! This was the first home which his family had and where he received his testimony of the true Church of Jesus Christ. We got to tour the inside.

The area where the young Joseph Smith received the visitation of Moroni 3 times in one night. It's very humbling to be in the same place where Moroni appeared and feel of the truthful spirit of the restoration of the gospel to the earth.

Along the path to the later home of the Smith family the Temple was right in the middle of the scenery!! SO beautiful!! It was such a peaceful serene area and I'm so happy that the church has been able to maintain it that way.

The 2nd upgraded home of the Smith family.

They would use these large logs as storage bins because the log would naturally hollow out which made a great storage area.

Behives made out of hollowed logs!! On our way into the sacred grove.

The Sacred Grove was such a peaceful experience. Danny and I walked down all the paths and then back up around. I really didn't want to leave. There were some pesky mosquitoes in some parts but overall it really felt like we were walking on hallowed ground. The spirit that resides there is overwhelming. I am so happy to be an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know my Savior, I'm sealed to my best friend for eternity, and sealed to my family!! What more could you want for all eternity? I am so grateful to have the gospel and feel the comfort and blessings that I have needed this past year from the Savior. Here are some pics of our experience.

After the sacred grove we checked out the Temple. I have really been missing the great outdoors and this was the perfect area to feel the calm and beauty of the great outdoors.

After the temple we took a tour of the visitors center which is also alongside of the Hill Cummorah!! Hopefully we can go back and see the pagent!!

My Eternal Family!!

Hill Cummorah

Here is the monument at the top of the Hill. It's crazy to look out and see all the flatlands and forest and then there is this one hill!! It's amazing to think that the prophet was living in the right area to be able to start the restauration. It was not chance that's for sure!

Off to Niagara Falls before my dad could throw my mom off the Hill Cumorah!
